  • Make sure your submission fits within the scope of the journal
  • Read the journal to get a sense of what they publish
  • Check what tools and services they offer to authors
  • Read the instructions to authors carefully
  • Check the copyright policies
  • Check the metrics tab for more information on research assessment metrics
