What is PICO?

What is PICO?

PICO is a framework for defining clinical or health-related questions to be answered. In other words, PICO helps you develop search terms for research on complex medical topics:

P - Patient, Population or Problem - Who are the patients? What is the health concern?

I - Intervention or Indicator - What type of intervention are you considering?

C - Comparison or Control - Is there a comparison to be measured against?

O - Outcome(s) - What do you hope to measure, improve or affect?
