Liaison librarians specialize in disciplines and have assigned programs of support to be impactful co-curricular partners. We can provide information literacy instruction for all instructional modalities throughout the semester. We'll meet you in person or online synchronously or build modules and meet you asynchronously. If you are interested in developing support for a certain metaliteracy like data literacy, media literacy, or even AI information literacy, just let us know.
Faculty are encouraged to schedule information literacy instruction for their classes, particularly research-intensive and capstone/senior seminar courses.
- Schedule sessions at least one week in advance so librarians can be well-prepared.
- If possible, information literacy instruction takes place in the library's technology classroom (Library 230), but librarians can come to your room if schedules allow.
- Timing - sessions work best at students' point of need.
- The most effective sessions are designed around a specific research need / assignment.
- Librarians will need a copy of your assignment..
- Best practices include faculty attendance along with students so we require faculty attendance.
- We'll include a course guide with your assignment in mind along with formal instruction.
- Ask your liaison librarian about additional instructional support activities.
- There is no need to request instruction for Composition I or Composition II courses. These courses have embedded information literacy instruction.
Use the forms below to request synchronous or asynchronous information literacy instruction for your students.
