Hedy Lamarr

Hedy Lamarr in 1944. Though famous as a Hollywood actor, at the start of WWII, Lamarr and composer George Anthell invented a spread-spectrum, frequency-hopping radio guidance system for torpedoes. It was intended to avoid enemy jamming efforts. Some of their ideas were later used in Bluetooth and GPS technology. (Image source: wikipedia.org)
