RefWorks: Import Citations

Import Citations

To import citations from Microsoft Word or another citation manager, the file must be converted to a .RIS file.

 

  • Go to https://git.macropus.org/citation-finder/

  • Copy & paste the citations into the Enter Citations box

  • Make sure the citations are all starting on a new line. (See top photo at right.)

  • Choose .ris (EndNote) format

  • Click Search

  • Review the citations (See middle photo at right.)

  • Select the correct one if there are multiple

  • Click Download

  • Then when you get to RefWorks, click +Add -> Import References. (See bottom photo at right.) 

  • Upload the .ris file

  • Select RIS format on the pull-down menu in the box

  • Click Import

 

The citations will all show up separately in RefWorks. You can create a folder for them. When you click on individual citations, you can edit them as needed. You can click Create Bibliography and select the style you want.

Copy and paste citations. Check that they're each on a new line.

Select RIS format.

Search for matches.

Select the correct match in left column.

 

Upload the .ris file to RefWorks.

Select Import References
